Fall color in northern Baltimore County doesn't last long, and this week it hit its peak. I put the drone up twice to catch it.
Prettyboy Reservoir at Evening
Earlier this week I flew Prettyboy Reservoir in the evening, when low sun lights up the color along the ridgelines and the water goes deep blue.
Look closely at the shoreline. The pale band of exposed bank shows how far the water level has dropped. From the ground you'd only see a stretch of beach. From the air you see the whole picture at once. That's what documentation is about: a clear, honest record of conditions on a specific date.

In black and white, the color goes away and the shape of the land takes over. You see the coves, the ridges and the way the forest meets the water.

Big Truck Farm Brewery in Morning Sun
This morning I flew from right above my house in Parkton at about 225 feet, looking out toward Big Truck Farm Brewery. The open fields and farm buildings sit in a sea of orange, red and gold.

Shots like this show a property in its setting: the land, the tree line, the access road and the neighbors. That context matters for farms, land sales and anyone who needs a clear record of a property.
Catch It While It Lasts
Another week or two and these trees will be bare. If you have a property, farm or piece of land you'd like documented in its fall color, now's the time.
